Everything went smooth until Chicago. We woke up at around 5:30 and the plane was on time for London, everything was great ! But obviously, no adventure in the Bras-Jorge family goes by quietly. At the London airport we discovered that the one plane we could not have delayed was late. And the consequences were dire. We only have about an hour's time to get through customs and re-check our luggage. People told us that we would be fine and that American Airlines would help us, which was not the case once we arrived. Did I mention that our plane was a moving antiquity ? Nothing was working properly on it; more than half of the movie screens were out of order and the seats were old and moldy. When we got out of the plane we were told to keep on going and that we would make our flight. We barely got to immigration when another person told us we would never make our flight. So we ended up at the baggage check in waiting for our rescheduled tickets. We waited one hour at least and then had to get to running so that we wouldn't miss yet another flight. So hour new flight was to Searle since there were no more flights to Portland. We ran to Terminal 3 from Terminal 5 to our gate K13 (that's right, we still remember !) Landed at Seattle, we got a free hotel paid by American Airlines because of everything we went through. But we still had to wait! Luck was truly not on our side for this trip. The shuttle to the hotel took forever to come and get us but it eventually did. We were finally going to flop down on a bed, get some sleep and wake up at 3:30 am to catch the 6 am flight to Portland ! Are we ever going to get there !? Lola
